Legendary singer Amber Gurung, who is in Beijing to share the taste of Nepali music with his distant audience, entertained hundreds of music lovers at the China National Orchestra Concert Hall on Friday.
Legendary singer Amber Gurung, who is in Beijing to share the taste of Nepali music with his distant audience, entertained hundreds of music lovers at the China National Orchestra Concert Hall on Friday.
The audience mostly included Chinese people and Beijing-based representatives of the foreign diplomatic missions, where Gurung performed songs from his 50-year-old collection.
Gurung presented Ma Ambar Hu Timi Dharti, Naulakha Tara Udaye, Purwa Jane Panchi Ho and Tipa Yo Jivan among others at the Paleti concert organised by the Nepalese embassy in Beijing.
Instrumental numbers Batasle Jhareka Phool Haru Sangali, Pokhiyera Gham Ko Jhulka among others were played.
During the two-hour long concert, singers Aavaas and Angela gave voice to other evergreen numbers of Ambar Gurung like Samhalera Rakha, Pohor Saal Khusi Phatyo and Piyundai Napiyune Manche.
"I had been here in Beijing almost 20 years ago. The development and progress that we see here today is the result of unity among the Chinese People. But we should not allow our human sentiments to die amidst all this", shared Gurung. The essence of all songs was interpreted into Chinese and English keeping in mind the foreign audience.
Nepali Ambassador to China Tanka Karki said, 'The name Ambar Gurung is synonymous to modern Nepali music. It is an honour to listen to this living legend.'
Gurung, who is also the chancellor of Nepal's Drama and Music Academy, urged the officials of China National Orchestra Concert to assist in the initiation of Musical Orchestra in Nepal.
Gurung and his Paleti team will perform at the Kings Garden Villa on Tuesday, June 15 before returning Kathmandu.
