In order to ensure its victory in the prime ministerial run-off slated for August 2, Unified CPN (Maoist) has decided to express written commitment to the "common paper" jointly floated by United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).
In a meeting held at the party headquarters in Koteshwor, Maoist office-bearers reached a conclusion that the party should express written commitment to the conditions presented by UDMF.
Talking to a local radio station, Maoist vice-chairman Narayan Kazi Shrestha said that his party will hand-over a letter stating its written commitment to the conditions presented by the UDMF as demanded by the latter for its support in a meeting to be held later today.
The Maoists have also decided to sit with Madhesi leaders for further consultations on the issue.
In the "common paper" the Madhesi parties have put forth the condition that the major parties like Nepali Congress and Maoists who are seeking their support for government formation should ensure, among others, a single Madheshi province, proportional representation of Madhesi people in the national army and completion of army integration task as early as possible to conclude the peace process.
The decision of the Maoist party has come at a time when top leaders of Nepali Congress are already positive the 'common paper' floated by the Madhesi parties for their support in the next prime ministerial run-off.
