The 28 parties represented in the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Wednesday decided to mandate the Constitutional Committee (CC) with the task of resolving the remaining contentious issues of thematic committees.
A joint meeting of the parties held in Singha Durbar decided to make active the CC stating that it is the statutory body to deal with dispute settlement in the constitution drafting process, according to UCPN-Maoist vice chairman Narayankaji Shrestha.
With the CC now vested with the authority to resolve the issues, the 28-party meeting has been postponed for an indefinite period, informed Shrestha to the media after the meeting.
A day earlier, the CA had amended its regulations for a third time mandating the CC to sort out the remaining 83 of the 210 thorny issues, with only about five months left for promulgation of a new constitution.
